Bio

Antonio Scarpitta is a film editor based in Los Angeles, California. In the last 4 years he has worked on a wide range of independent movies, documentaries, commercials, and has written and directed 4 short films. He was part of the editing team for Captain Abu Raed, a wonderful story written and directed by Amin Matalqa. The film was shot in its entirety in Jordan and won the Audience Award for best foreign film at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival; it is also Jordan’s official entry in the Oscar race for best foreign film of 2008.

Antonio was also involved for 4 years in the documentary
The Garden, from seasoned Writer/Director Scott Hamilton Kennedy, which premiered in the LA Film Festival in the summer of 2008 to great acclaim and it went on to be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary category for 2008.

Antonio started his career as a 3D artist designing and building environments for computer games in the Bay Area, completing various titles including:
Frankenstein; Through the Eyes of the Monster and The Mummy. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. He began working in broadcast, designing virtual sets. Soon afterwards, he started doing motion graphics and title designs for films. Finally, he secured an opportunity to work as an assistant editor for the behind the scenes of the dvd for the Hollywood Homicide movie. From there he moved full throttle into editing, writing and directing.

For Antonio, his passion comes from having a vision, nurturing that vision and giving it life. All the while, enjoying the process.
